Jaguar Shows us How it Tested the F-Type Roadster on European Tracks

It appears that Jaguar is trying to capitalize on the interest surrounding its newest sports car after the first official image of the F-Type made the internet rounds on Wednesday by reminding us that the roadster will debut in a week's time at the Paris Auto Show, and more importantly, by sharing a new video.
The new film released today includes footage of the British brand's vehicle dynamics team testing a craftily camouflaged pre-production model in the UK, Germany and Italy. In one instance, we see the speedometer's needle surpassing the 180mph (290km/h) mark.

Jaguar F-Type Photo is the Real Deal, Check Out the High Resolution Version

Any doubts that we had about the authenticity of the single image of the production F-Type roadster found on Chris Doane's Facebook page earlier today, were cleared up by Jaguar itself that released a high-resolution version of the same picture.
As we noted in our previous posting, the F-Type in roadster guise looks more or less like an exact copy (sans the absence of the roof, of course) of last year's C-X16 Coupe Concept model.
If the idea of a sturdier and racier-looking closed-top model sounds better to you, fear not, as Jaguar will present a coupe version of the two seater, possibly by late 2013 or early 2014 with sales to follow in the second half of 2014.

Jaguar Designs a Concept Speedboat to go with its New XF Sportbrake

On the occasion of the international driving debut of its brand new XF Sportbrake that took place only a few weeks before the car arrives in European showrooms, Jaguar unveiled a bespoke speedboat concept to showcase the brand's design DNA on a completely different product as well as to inspire buyers of the estate model.
"We recognise that both our existing and future customers enjoy diverse and active lifestyles," explained Jaguar Director of Design, Ian Callum. "With the launch of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake, we had an opportunity to create a vision of how our design philosophy might be applied to an alternative product, in which speed and beauty are also priorities."

How Red Bull Racing Bought Ford's F1 Failure for $1 and went on to Win 6 Titles

The late legendary NASCAR racer and team owner Dale Earnhardt Sr. had famously said, “Second place is just the first place loser”. Sebastian Vettel, who on November 26 won his third consecutive Formula 1 world championship with Red Bull Racing (RBR), thinks along the same lines: “When you win, everything is crazy. When you lose, you have time for yourself, no one is interested”, he says.

Everyone is certainly interested in Vettel and Red Bull Racing, which also won its third constructors’ title in a row this season. What makes their accomplishments even more astonishing is the fact that the RBR team was formed in 2005 and its first win came in the 2009 Chinese Grand Prix.

Jaguar F-Type Prototypes Driven by Three World-Class Racers

So far, the F-Type has gained nothing but praise. That’s mainly because of its looks, though, being a two-seater open-top sports car with a choice of three supercharged engine options that send power to the rear wheels must have helped, too.

Jaguar brought in three TV presenters to sample prototypes of the F-Type on the Snetterton track and the roads around it. To be fair, their job description is not entirely accurate.

Yes, they are employed by television channels such as BBC, ITV, Sky Sports and Speed Channel to host or comment on car shows and racing series but their resume is much richer than that: they all are former world-class professional racing drivers, too.

Jaguar C-X75 Hypercar is No More; British Brand Says it Axed the Project, but will Auction 3 Examples

Last year in May, Jaguar told the world of its intention to build a limited run production version of the striking C-X75 hypercar concept that was displayed at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

At the time, Jaguar had said it would offer the car with an advanced hybrid powertrain instead of the concept's futuristic jet-powered setup limiting production to around 250 units.

Now we learn that the British carmaker has backtracked on the decision axing the project due to the current global economic crisis.

Jaguar-Land Rover Confirms Interest in Building a Plant in Saudi Arabia

After opening its first assembly plant in India last year and laying the foundations for a new manufacturing facility in China in partnership with Chery Automobile, the Jaguar Land Rover group is now eyeing a new factory in Saudi Arabia.

The British carmaker signed a letter of intent with Saudi Arabia's government and the National Industrial Clusters Development Program (NICDP), and will begin a detailed feasibility study immediately to determine the viability of setting up an automotive facility in the country.

Drive Goes Inside Jaguar’s Nürburgring Test Facility, Samples the XKR-S

Maybe some of you are thinking, “oh, it's just another Nürburgring video where a lucky chap is having a blast driving a powerful car”. Bear with us, though, because it's much more than that.

In fact, it’s a look at the inside workings of a car maker's dedicated Nordschleife test center. Jaguar has been visiting the 13-mile-long track for more than two decades and it was one of the first manufacturers to set up shop there, just outside the track’s northern loop, in 2003.

Jaguar F-Type Roadster Could be Joined by Coupe, FWD Compact Model and SUV

The F-Type, which made its U.S. debut at the LA Motor Show last week and is scheduled to go on sale in May 2013, is much more than just the high-profile sports car that’s been missing from Jaguar’s range for a long time.

True, the F-Type has been well-received and is expected to boost Jaguar’s image considerably. It is equally true, though, that the two-seater roadster will be a low-volume model – even if we add the coupe, which is expected at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show, in the mix.

Jaguar's Fast and Furious XFR-S Bows at LA Show, Watch it in Action in First Video

A Jaguar with a carbon fiber rear wing that would make WRX owners salivate with jealousy? Sure, why not, especially since there's a perfectly good reason for its presence on the boot.

If you haven't done so before in our previous postings, meet the XFR-S, which Jaguar never fails to mention that it's the brands most potent performance sedan ever.

Jaguar F-Type Comes to LA Show with Added "Design" and “Black” Packs

Choosing the Paris Auto Show for unveiling the brand-new F-Type roadster was for Jaguar, all a matter of the event’s high profile. However, as its execs know all too well, the new roadster's biggest market will be the U.S. – and it’s no coincidence that they announced its pricing two months before the car even landed on American soil.

This happened at the LA Auto Show with Jaguar saying that it believes the roadster will prove more than competent enough to prove worthy to its unofficial “new E-Type” label.

New Jaguar XFR-S in Depth, Sports a Tuned 542hp Supercharged V8

We've already had the opportunity to show you what the brand-new Jaguar XFR-S looks like before its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show, so now it's time to tell you what lies under its sported up body.

Billed as an "ultra-high performance" version of the XF series, the XFR-S is the fastest and most powerful production sedan in the history of Jaguar.

It makes use of the same souped-up 5.0-liter supercharged V8 as the XKR-S, producing 40hp and 41 lb-ft more torque than the standard XFR's V8 for a total of 542hp (550PS) and 502 lb-ft (680Nm). An 8-speed Quickshift automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddles drives the rear wheels.

Jaguar quotes a zero to 60 mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds1 (0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds) and an electronically-limited top speed of 186 mph1 (300km/h) – an improvement of 0.3 seconds and 31mph (50km/h) respectively over the plain-Jane XFR.

Jaguar C-X3 is a Design Concept for a BMW 1-Series and Mercedes A-Class Rival

Jaguar's last effort to expand its automobile range with a more affordable model, the 2001-2009 X-Type sedan, didn't quite work for a number of reasons, but the truth is, if the British brand wants to remain alive and competitive, it will eventually have to give it another try, something that the company's bosses haven’t denied.

Whether Jaguar will attempt to build another compact executive sedan or if it will choose a different category, remains to be seen.

New Jaguar F-Type Meets Classic E-Type at Lord Mayor’s Show in London

While not a direct successor of the E-Type, Jaguar fashions the F-Type as a descendant of its most recognized sports car that was built between 1961 and 1974, something the British carmaker tries to bring up whenever the conversation revolves around its new roadster model.

At this year's "Lord Mayor's Show" in London, which one of the longest established events in the UK dating back to the 16th century, Jaguar paraded its new F-Type alongside two E-Types, which were restored by Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth.

Oops…Large Crane Falls and Crushes Rare Jaguar XKR-S and BMW 6-Series Coupes

An automotive dealer from the small Belgium village Gits was in for a nasty surprise earlier this week when a large crane trying to position a huge fuel tank for a new gas station being built right next to his shop tipped over and crushed a pair of cars parked on the lot.

The two vehicles were a rare Jaguar XKR-S coupe (the 2008 model), of which only 200 examples were built for the European market and one he reportedly had just…sold for €150,000 (US$194,000), and a previous generation BMW 630i Coupe.
