Nissan GT-R Updated for 2014MY, Laps Nürburgring in 7’18’’6 [w/Videos]

On December 6, 2007, Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn proudly unveiled the all-new GT-R during the Tokyo Motor Show. Design chief Shiro Nakamura proudly stated that Japan’s supercar reflected the country’s culture. However it’s not the styling but what’s underneath that aggressive bodywork that has made it humiliate supercars worth double its price - or more...
Kazutoshi Mizuno, though, who heads the GT-R development team, is apparently a very difficult man to please. That’s evident from the modifications he has constantly made to his creation, the latest being the one unveiled today, which will be known as a 2014MY in North America, and as a 2013 model for the rest of the world.
When the GT-R was launched, its 3.8-liter VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 pumped out 480HP. A year later, it gained 5HP but it wasn’t until 2011MY when its output jumped considerably, to 530HP.
One would think that this would be enough. Mizuno didn’t: that’s why he upped the V6’s output just a year later to 542HP and then, in 2011, to 545HP for the North American market version.

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Nissan GT-R How I Wonder What You Are

Back in October, Bulgaria's workaholic tuning crew at Vilner presented their first design job for the Nissan GT-R with a Dragon-themed project created for a Chinese client.

Vilner has now completed its second GT-R tune, again concentrating on improving the interior of the Japanese sports car but with a different theme this time, one that is highlighted –literally- by what the company describes as the "starry sky ceiling".

Arctic Circle Snow No Match for Nissan GT-R

Back in the 1990s, the press liked to call the Acura / Honda NSX the world's first, and at the time, only everyday supercar, which may hold true if you compare it with a Ferrari 348 and take into account only performance and reliability, but was it really a true everyday supercar?

Well, if you prefer to drive with one passenger alone and only during good weather, then the answer is yes, but if you want to fit more people inside and use the car under adverse weather conditions, then the NSX will no doubt disappoint.

Audi A1 Quattro Beats Nissan GT-R on a Wet and Twisty Track, Rains Cats and Dogs Over England…

Pitting an Audi A1 city car against the almighty Nissan GT-R sounds silly, even if said A1 is the limited run Quattro model with a 253HP engine, a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 5.7 seconds and all-wheel drive, and the venue is a twisty and wet track.

The GT-R is much more expensive and has double the power, probably double the electronics, too, and is the car to have under those exact circumstances. Put simply, it’s probably the fastest production car bar none in such a scenario.

2014 MY Nissan GT-R Bows at LA Auto Show, Goes on Sale in January [w/Video]

After the major upgrade it received for the 2013 model year, it would be logical to assume that Nissan’s GT-R would remain mostly unchanged this year.

Nissan’s dedicated Team GT-R, though, led by Kazutoshi Mizuno, has a philosophy of constant improvement. Therefore, the 2014MY GT-R, which will make its world debut today at the LA Auto Show, may look identical to the previous model but it features a number of significant changes dictated by the data Team GT-R collected after entering a stock car in this year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring endurance race.

Watch How Passengers React to the Nissan GT-R's Launch Control

If you ever had any doubts that the Nissan GT-R can put a smile or two to a person's face even if they are simply occupying the passenger seat, this video ought to dispel them.

The least enthusiastic response from all the people seen in this clip (courtesy of YouTube user "ToTheFloorVideos"), comes from the bikini-clad lady pictured above, though it could be because she has racked up plenty of miles – in cars like the GT-R for YouTube videos of the sort, silly...

Nissan Builds First €500,000 Juke R with 545HP for Client, Makes Some Minor Changes to the Design

The wildest crossover ever to make the transition from concept to production, the new limited run Nissan Juke R that utilizes a modified version of the GT-R's platform and twin-turbo engine, is ready to be placed into the hands of a select few customers.

Nissan announced today that the first Juke-R road car has been built and tested and is now on its way be delivered to its new owner, adding that production of car No002 is "well underway".

The Japanese carmaker said that the exact price of the Juke R's depend on the precise specification requested by each buyer, but noted that it starts from a whopping €500,000 (about US$652,500) a pop, or more than five times the cost of a GT-R in Europe (6.5 times in the U.S.).

The street-legal, production version of the Juke R is more powerful than the 485bhp concept, as Nissan used the latest GT-R's 545bhp twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter engine that allows for an estimated 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 275km/h (171mph).

Geishas, samurai swords, Shinto temples and the latest high tech gadgets are only a small part of the things you get to see when you visit Japan. Jay Leno may have indulged in all of the above and then some more during his recent trip to the land of the Rising Sun, yet his main interest is cars.

Having already visited Toyota City, where he sampled both the world's only Lexus LFA Spyder and one of two existing 1966 Toyota 2000 GT convertibles ever made, specifically for a 007 flick, Leno couldn’t resist to go to a midnight meeting of Nissan GT-R owners in Tokyo.

Porsche's New 911 Carrera S Goes "Head 2 Head" with Nissan's 2013 GT-R

Throw us the keys to any one of these two sports cars, and we will gladly take them for a very, very long spin without a second thought. And all for good reason.

While the GT-R has entered its fifth year in production, it doesn’t realty show its age in any other departments than the styling and the interior, which to be honest, wasn't anything special to begin with.

In many ways, the GT-R was years ahead of the competition when it debuted in 2007, and let's not forget, Nissan has been religiously tweaking and upgrading it every year.

Nissan GT-R Bikini Run Video is Not What You Think it Is…

If you're looking for some juggling action from synthetically augmented products placed in the tiniest of holders, don't expect to find it here, well, at least not in our primary video because we did add a second clip, but only for reference purposes so you can better understand the storyline.

And unlike those real professional ladies enjoying a ride in superfast sports car as any other…normal woman would do, the unnamed blonde on the black leather seat of the GT-R has a mind and a mouth of her own.

Some of our favorite quotes include, "This GT-R has nothing on those twin-turbo Gallardo" and "No girl, he does his car like he does his woman, quarter mile a time, 10 seconds the most".
