Infiniti Adopts New Naming Strategy, Next G Series will be Called the Q50


Out with the old, in with the new, or at least that's what Infiniti is saying about its new nomenclature.

Beginning from next year, Infiniti will use the letter "Q" for all sedan, coupe and convertible models and the letters "QX" for SUVs and crossovers, adding a double digit at the end of both to signify the series and the hierarchy within the range.

The first Infiniti model to wear the brand's new badges is the G series' successor that will be revealed in sedan trim at the Detroit auto show in mid-January, and which will be called the Q50.

Infiniti Announces 2013 FX37 and EX37 with 325hp V6, G25 Sedan gets the Axe


The 2013 model year brings a raft of changes and upgrades to Infiniti's U.S. lineup, the most important being the introduction of the new FX37 and EX37 with a more powerful engine, and the company's decision to discontinue the G25 sedan.

Nisan Resurrects Cima Nameplate in Japan with a New Sedan Based on Stretched Infiniti M35h


Nearly two years after Nissan discarded its flagship model series in Japan, the Cima nameplate returns for another round in the premium sedan segment.

The Cima was introduced in Japan in the late 1980s to rival the Toyota Crown Majesta. From the mid-1990s, the Cima was based on the equivalent versions of the Infiniti Q45 series.

For its re-introduction in the Japanese market, Nissan chose to base the Cima on the long-wheelbase version of the Infiniti M35h, a China market-only model that made its world premiere at this week's Beijing Motor Show.

Like its Chinese counterpart, the Cima features a 5.9-inch (150mm) longer wheelbase than the standard Infiniti M and a rear passenger area highlighted by the additional legroom and many comfort amenities like the entertainment system and the power-reclining, heated and cooled seats.

Infiniti Marks China Debut with New M Long-Wheel Base Models


The next stop for Nissan's luxury brand Infiniti is the Chinese market as the company moves ahead with its plan to begin building cars locally to compete with its German rivals in the premium segment, Audi, BMW and Mercedes, all of which produce cars in China.

The first step was made with the global debut of the Infiniti M long-wheel-basemodel available with both hybrid and naturally aspirated engines at this week's Auto China 2012 in Beijing.

Infiniti Introduces 2012 M35h with Improved Fuel Economy and Lower CO2 Emissions


Infiniti has released details on its new model year M35h hybrid that will roll out across Europe in the forthcoming weeks. There are no styling or equipment changes to the 2012 M35h as Infiniti focused on improving the hybrid model's fuel efficiency and CO2 emission figures.

To do so, the Japanese brand's engineers made key enhancements to electric motor accuracy and battery charging, which allow the M35h to rely more on electric power when starting off from cold.

Infiniti Brings us a Behind the Scenes Video of the M Hybrid vs Porsche Panamera Spot


Remember how Infiniti's M Hybrid beat the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid in a quarter mile duel for a new commercial that aired last month? Well now, the Japanese carmaker is gining a behind-the-scenes look at what went on during the filming of the spot.

Aside from seeing the M Hybrid burning some rubber the only other interesting bit in this video is the blacked out Mercedes-Benz ML film car - which, of course, goes unmentioned by Infiniti. Watch the two-and-a-half minute long clip after the break.

2012 Infiniti M35h vs Porsche Panamera S Hybrid: And the World's Fastest Full Hybrid Model is…


If not all, most makers of hybrid automobiles focus their advertising campaigns on their vehicles' fuel economy and CO2 emission ratings, but not Infiniti that has taken a different route with its new M35h.

Following a teaser clip last week, the Japanese carmaker released the full video today of its M35h taking on the also new 2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid in a quarter mile drag race.

The 360-horsepower M35h completed the standing quarter mile in 13.4 seconds beating the 380-horsepower Porsche Panamera S Hybrid by about half-a-car's length, according to the video provided by Infiniti.
