Scoop: Hyundai's All-New 2014 Genesis Sedan Nearing Production

If someone were to tell you 10 years ago that Hyundai and its sister company Kia would try to battle Germany's finest car brands with a rear-wheel drive luxury sedan, you would probably laugh at their face.

Today, the German's are not in the least amused by the Koreans efforts, which started with the Hyundai Genesis premium sedan that was launched in production trim in 2008.

Surprisingly for an Asian model, the Genesis sedan has aged well cosmetically, though, in all fairness, Hyundai's designers did take some styling notes from their counterparts in Munich…

Nevertheless, Hyundai wants to keep its mid-size model relevant against the competition, so it's currently completing the development of the second generation Genesis Sedan, which according to Hyundai Motor Company CEO Kim Choon-ho, will launch towards the end of 2013.

Hyundai Mulling Over the Possibility of a BMW 3-Series Sedan Rival

After the revival of the Hyundai and Kia brands, complete with enormous sales to boast, the introduction of higher end luxury models like the Hyundai Genesis and Equus sedans and the Kia Quoris / K9 saloon, have placed the Koreans one step closer to more premium automakers.

By starting with newly refreshed models like the Sonata, Elantra and Veloster, Hyundai has gained more credibility in the average household than ever before.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Drops 4.6L and 5.0L V8, Keeps V6 and R-Spec Models

It has been four years since Hyundai launched the Genesis luxury sedan onto the market and while it will take a little over a year for the Korean automaker to present the redesigned version at the end of 2013, the company has made some changes to the current model.

Hyundai CEO Says Redesigned Sonata Coming in 2014, Revamped Genesis Sedan in 2013

Hyundai Motor Company CEO Kim Choon-ho proved to be quite talkative on the sidelines of an industry meeting that took place on Wednesday in South Korea.

The company's boss told a Reuters' reporter that Hyundai plans to launch a "revamped version" of its Sonata sedan in 2014. Kim Choon-ho did not say if it will be a completely new model or a heavy facelift.

The Korean automaker introduced the current generation of its mid-size sedan in its home market in 2009, and in the U.S. and other markets around the world, in 2010. Last year, the KDM Sonata received some minor styling tweaks

Hyundai Still Thinking About Making Genesis a Separate Luxury Brand

Korean carmakers have made impressive progress in the last decade. From below-par products that were chosen by people who wanted a new car and couldn’t afford anything pricier, Hyundai and Kia models quickly become competitive in most segments.

And we're not the only ones who say this; even VW's boss is wondering why his company's products can't match Hyundai’s quality in certain areas.

No matter how good a car is, though, preconceptions die hard. For certain people, the badge on the hood says a lot about not only the car, but themselves as well; no quality survey, iPad manual, road-test review or 10-speed auto transmission is not going to change that in the foreseeable future

Hyundai Airs Four More Super Bowl XLVI Ads

The onslaught of Super Bowl commercials continues today with four more spots from Hyundai, in addition to the South Korean firm's Veloster Turbo "Cheetah" ad that we showed you earlier today.

From the new spots, the one that stands out the most for us is the "All for One", which is a 60-second commercial that will air just before the big game starts. The ad features almost 200 actual Hyundai team members humming to the sounds of "Gonna Fly Now" from the movie "Rocky, and was filmed at the brand's Montgomery plant in Alabama.
